Can someone explain the purpose of Project allocation keys and how it is used?
Path: Project management and accounting > Setup > Forecasts > Project allocation keys.

Project allocation keys are used to allocate or distribute amount defined in project forecast defined for expense, item and fee. For hours, this option is not available.
When you create an expense or fee forecast from a project, you can select the method to allocate amount introduced in the line:
If you select Key option, you will able to select one of allocation keys that you have created like 20 in my example. Then the system will distribute accordingly percentages and periods that you have setup this period key:
For item forecast, the purpose is the same. The difference is the way to allocate amounts. For that you will have to click on Allocate forecast to defined allocation method and the key:

I think the Project allocation key is selected here
But after selected the key, i find no different. Could you advice where can i find the result?

I confirm you that the allocation key used for Key method is one selected in Period key. When you select Period method, you will define periods to distribute proportionally forecast amounts in fields 'Quantity', 'Unit' and 'End date'
But you are right 'Period key' is not the field that you are asking but 'Project allocation key'
I have researched this field further and it seems to be used in expense forecast by forecast reduction feature and not for allocating forecast amounts. Here you can find more details: Project allocation keys (form) | Microsoft Docs
Forecast model can be reduced automatically with amounts used in actuals:
and you can define a lump sum project allocation key for expense in Project management and accounting parameters that will be compared with one set in field project allocation key into expense forecasts:

Note that similar functionality exists for item forecast but by using item allocation key.
