barcode implementation in microsoft dynamics NAV 5.0

hi friends,

              i need to generate Barcode automatically for an item and need to scan these items with barcode reader.can u please tell me how to do this.i am new to this technology,if possible can u please tell me step by step.and also how to integrate barcode with NAV 5.0.

    Hi Bayapa,

     This is a big area and there is any number of solutions.  The simpliest is to download a barcode font and create a report using this font. Again scanners vary from tethered scanner to radio frequence ot RF ID.  The simpliest is to buy a tethered scanner which scans a barcode which acts like a user typing quickly.

    It you do not have experience in the area then I would recommend you talk to a partner with experience and also a barcode equipment supplier to determine what the best solution is for you.

    I may not be posting in the right place, but can anyone tell me if there are any minimum or maximum character lengths for barcodes in AX?  The way the Barcode setup operates in AX, I'm inclined to think that it is user defined, but I want to be sure.

    I have Navision Dynamics 2009 R2 and need a solution for scanning and barcode stock (with serials) handling both warehousing and point of sale.

    Have tried Motorola MC7090 but too slow and not intuative enough.

    Looking for idea's.
