Sub Description 1 in find and in PO's

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Is there any way to get Sub Description 1 to show up in the Find window?

Is there any way to get Sub Description 1 to show up in the purchase order and receiving screen?

We use Sub Description 1 extensively for different sizes, colors, etc. so the default Find window's results are useless with out it, as is the purchasing and receiving screens.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, that doesn't work, either.  The problem is our item description are too long, and even in a matrix item, the extra stuff gets truncated.  If we had more than 30 characters, we'd just dump using the sub description 1, and put it all on the description line.

A matrix item is a group of component items that are essentially the same item but with unique characteristics. Matrix items have dimensions that represent these unique characteristics. For example, a t-shirt might come in four sizes (small, medium, large, and extra large) and three colors (white, green, and blue), but it is essentially the same item. For our t-shirt, the dimensions are Size and Color.

Not sure that I understand then.

If you want to search by the value entered within the SUB Description 1 field.  That is exactly what find does.

If you want to rename the field back to "Sub Description 1" then follow these steps.

    1) Open Manager

    2) Click File menu and select configuration.

    3) Click the Captions button in the lower left corner

    4) Goto the Items tab and enter any name that you want.

If you want the SUB Description 1 as a column in the results for items found - this is not possible without a customization for the whole Purchase Order workflow.

Thanks, but I meant that I need to see sub description 1 in the results.

Sub Description 1 is available in the Find Window.

*** Note:  You can rename "Sub Description 1" to some other name.  The find will then use that name in the list of searchable fields.
