'Error 8900 - A DirectLink error has occurred attempting to connect to the DB for this company' in FRx

We receive this error in FRx when we try to run the 'Build Local GL Index' utility on the Forecaster company within FRx.  The reason we are trying to run this utility is because we are noticing discrepancies in our Reporting Tree that pulls in the budget data from Forecaster.

It will be helpful to know that we recently migrated our Great Plains system to new hardware (database and application servers).  So originally we thought it was was a simple ODBC disconnect, but we verified the ODBC connection back to the server that Forecaster is still running on tests successfully.  So when we go into Company > Information in the FRx application, everything saves correctly for the Forecaster company.  We only get this error when we try to rebuild the GL indexes.

Our Forecaster environment has not been touched, so the DirectLink settings are still the same as before when they were working fine.  We are on the latest FRx service pack as well.

Can FRx even point to a separate server to retrieve the Forecaster database or does it need to be local with the Great Plains databases as well?

Hi this will happen when you have analytical accounting company as default company in Frx.  Please refer the following link to resolve this issue.

Babu, we do not have Analytical Accounting installed with GP, nor is it a default company in FRx.

I recommend making sure you are using the latest version of FRx which is SP12. If you are on that, verify that the fsforecaster.dll file is in the FRx code folder.

Thanks, Jake.  Good suggestion on the fsforecaster.dll.  I'll look into that.  Do you know if the .dll will register on a 64-bit machine if the .dll from the old system was on a 32-bit machine?

That was the fix, Jake.  Thanks a bunch!  I just had to copy the .dll over from the old server...it had not been transferred.
