Hello,

we are planning to develop one handheld POS device for big retail chain customer I went to the customer store, and see they are using microsoft Nav on store backend and for billing they are using microsoft POS ready 2009,

Upon discussion, they told

They have a backend for every store

Every entery of product in the retail chain Goes from backend:------> Then it comes to store backend which is maintained by Microsoft Nav : Then it goes to POS billing device.  and then we come who want to build a hand held pos system and interface with there existing system.

we and our team are totally new to the microsoft technology, Looking for expanding our team in micrsoft, but before that I want my self to be clear how all these things work. my questions are

1. Where does all data being stored , obviously on cloud, but which platform (Office 365, azure, mysql)

2. How Microsoft nav access those data , is there any API like post get or some other protocol standard by ms.

3. how pos ready 2009 os work, is there any billing software come with pos ready os?

4. how i will get interface to insert our pos into there softwares? what should i ask them,

I am totally new to ms technology, so its all confusing.

Hope somebody consider as noob question and help me out.

Thanks

You need to ask them if they are using LS Retail.  LS Retail is POS addon for MS Dynamics NAV.

Also what version of NAV are they on.

Data is not obviously stored in a cloud. It might be as well on-premise installation, and the data is stored in Microsoft SQL.

NAV allows various integrations: via text files, via XML files, and also using web-services (SOAP and ODATA). Customer should be able to describe you the interface they are using. You can ask what interface they are currently using for their local POS to connect it to the back-end.
