Boost event engagement with journeys

Hi,
 
I followed the instructions on this page and created a journey however both of my test event registrations have gone through all the loops/checkpoint reminders apart from getting the initial first email and are awaiting at check-in even though the event they registered for is not until 27 November, not sure what I'm missing here.

I've skipped the Text message part of the journey though.
 
Any help will be appreciated thanks!
