Syncing Data to CDS: How do I limit what data comes from BC and what data comes from Sales?

Hi everyone,

I've been put in charge of connecting Dynamics 365 Sales to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

(Please note, I'm an beginner with BC. I specialise in the Customer Engagement side of Dynamics.)

Long story short: We want everything to operate out of Business Central EXCEPT Lead-to-Opportunity management.

We're wanting to create Accounts & Contacts through managing Leads & Opportunities in Sales, then be able to use this data in Business Central to perform every other task.

I've been reading through Microsoft Docs & trying to follow all of their instructions & recommendations on YouTube, but the best we've got is Manual Syncing & records from Sales not showing up in BC.

Examples of my Sunday afternoon reading:

So far, we've achieved 1 connection but no automatic syncing and no records from Sales showing up in BC.

Am I making rookie mistakes or is there something actually wrong with the connector?

Any and all help would be appreciated

Thanks,

RSTSi

    Hello,

I would take a look at the 'Integration Table Mappings' page.  This is the thing most people miss initially.  When you first setup an integration, most of the records in here are going to have the 'Synch. Only Coupled Records' option checked.  If you're ready to synch everything, you can uncheck that box for the records you want to synch and then re-run a full synch.

You can also specify the Synch direction here for each record type, and the filter that determines what criteria a record has to meet to be synched over.

    Hi Chris,

Thank you so much for your response, it's been very helpful.

Unfortunately, I'm now encountering a new issue.

Upon trying to synchronise the new records, I'm getting the errors below.

    BC-Issue.png

Please note: the only error I'm unable to fix is the one regarding the Company not existing.

My understanding was that if the record didn't exist in BC but the Integration Table Mapping direction reads FroimIntegrationTable, it would create the new record automatically.

Do I need to manually create & couple the records before the auto-sync works correctly? Or am I missing something again?

Thank you again for your willingness to help, it is super appreciated

It will create/update Contacts table but not other data like in your case Country/Region Code so you have to create an Integration for Country/Regions or make sure all data is in sync between BC and CDS
