Will having a 10-digit COA lead to storage capacity issues. 300 LE+

Hi All,

If we currently have 300 LEs sharing one COA, will having a 10-digit COA cause storage capacity issues as the company grows?

We acquire 10 companies each year and may add additional GL accounts to the COA but not 100 new GL accounts.

I appreciate your feedback.

Hello,

As far as I know, there is no issue.
If you experience performance problems, it's likely due to the transaction volume, not the 10-digit number.

Hi @CU23091914-1,

From a storage perspective, the difference between 6 digits and 10 digits is negligible, it won’t meaningfully impact storage capacity.

Agreed with @Giorgio Bonacorsi and @Syed Haris Shah. This can be due to the volume of transaction and not the COA having 6 digits or 10 digits. If this is a store related issue due to volume of transactions, i would suggest to explore the possibility of Data Archival with Long term retention wherein you can archive old GL transactions.
