Hi we have just recently moved to the new Unified interface and I cant see Articles on my Service module.

I have looked and it appears that this feature is no longer available. Can someone tell me how I can access the data and export from old version and then import to the new Knowledge Base articles please.

    RE: Cant see my Articles

    Hi John,

Thank you for posting your question on the community forum.

The Articles entity that is shown on the classic interface is a different entity from the Knowledge Articles entity that is seen on Unified Interface. The reason for this is that the Knowledge Management experience has been greatly improved over time and this lead to some entities becoming deprecated.

The old Articles entity (kbarticle) seen from the classic interface is deprecated as announced on here: docs.microsoft.com/.../dn281891(v=crm.8)

Instead you should use the new entity Knowledge Article (knowledgearticle) which provides an enhanced and improved experience on UCI.

Regarding migrating the old Articles to the new Knowledge Articles:

1- In the older KbArticle, the entity actually only stores text and the styling comes from the KbArticleTemplate - and that styling is also very limited in options. In the newer system, we allow full HTML capabilities, which means that you can create new experiences altogether. Anything that is supported in a browser (except javascripts) is supported in the newer entity. For best experiences, we recommend you to re-imagine the article in the newer entity and not just migrate from the old one.

2- If you require to automate the migration of older KBArticles into the new KnowledgeArticle entity, we recommend you to use our SDK or Web API to achieve this. There is also the possibility of using PowerAutomate or Flows to achieve this task.

    Update:

    3- As per: https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/dynamics365/it/2017/08/09/migrate-your-dynamics-crm-2011-knowledge-base-articles-to-new-dynamics-365-knowledge-base-articles/

To smoothen transition to the Knowledge Base capabilities, Microsoft has launched a new tool on Github to convert your existing CRM 2011 Knowledge Base articles to new Dynamics 365 capabilities.

Please note that the tool is not officially supported from Microsoft and is not covered under standard Microsoft support plans. However, we are providing the source code for this tool and will be supporting it as part of our community initiatives.
