Using Activate counting code after Physical Count

We just did a year end Physical count of all items last week.

Now we want to start our daily cycle counts based on A,B,C counting group. If we use the "Activate counting group" in the Cycle count, system doesn't show any lines in the journal as there is already a counting history for all the items from last week's count.

If we do not use the Activate counting group, it is pulling the same item everyday.

Is there a way to reset the counting history or use the option Activate counting group without it looking for the physical count? This must be an issue for other companies too if they do a physical count? How are other companies managing this process? We use Inventory management and not Warehouse management module.
