How do you manage security roles ?

Hello,

I have created a new security role for our Global Resource Manager.

However, I am struggling with assigning rights and priviledges to the new role. I need to restrict the GRM access to employee self-service, employee development and learning.

Can anyone help me out please ?

    Hello Nina,

In my opinion, the better approach would be to create a duplicate copy of a standard Manager role, give it a new name and then start deleting the duties and privileges that aren't required for this role. Its way easier than creating a new from scratch and then adding references to it.

Hope it helps! All the best

    Hi Nina,

You can do via duplicating the Manager role what Konica suggest.

Check below link for creating roles and assign security.

    Hi Nina,

You can use the Security diagnostics for task recordings functionality to find out which duties and privileges should be added to your roles. You can then first record all menu items this role needs to have access to. Then you can check which duties and/or privileges you want to add to your GRM role.

Duplicating the Manager / Employee would definitely be the first step as suggested above.

have you thought is hiding the extra fields, publishing the view and then restricting any personalizations by users on the ESS (all handled through System Admin --> Personalization)

other wise data mining with best guesses and tedious testing would be your best bet to restrict the access via security and roles. You could right click on the buttons you don't want, find their menu item name and then find what privileges they relate to. I would be very diligent on doing this and have a lot of coffee.
