Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding Business Central Custom extension. So, my colleague had developed a custom extension for our BC and was used for a long time. now my colleague left the company and the custom extension is malfunctioning. I need to fix the bug.

I am new with business central so i did a little bit of research and learned how to go to Sandbox > Design > Do the modifications > Download the zip file then edit it in visual studio code and upload it to the production environment.

What i don't understand is how can i download the existing custom extension and modify it?

Thank you for your help

Alright thank you guys since you already answered my initial question, ill go ahead and create another post for my second question which is how to modify the extension that cannot be downloaded.
and by the way, my ex coworker is no longer available so it is impossible to get the source code from him

Hi, this is specified in the app.json file. If you are using the cloud version, you cannot lift this restriction.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi
    That sounds great.
What message do you get when you try to download the other one?
If you see that you cannot download it, it is because at the time of compiling the extension, your colleague used the required configurations to not allow that download.
He should give you the code.
    Best Regards

    Hi
You may not be able to see the extension's encoding if development has been configured to not allow it.
To download the extension code you must go to Extensions Management.

Find your ex-coworker's extension, I advise you, filter by PTE

Go to extension and select "Download Source"

If you can download it, that's perfect, otherwise it's probably because your ex-coworker has configured it so that they cannot download it.
    Here the explanation:

    Best Regards
    Gerardo
