Hello, I see other posts regarding contact duplication after upgrades, but I'm not clear on the latest news on this.

We will upgrade from 2011 to 2016 using the upgrade path, (as opposed to a fresh implementation and migrating data.) Some users currently use Outlook as the "Synchronization Method" for Appointments, Contacts and Tasks. After the upgrade all users will be set to Server Side Sync.

Do D365 (v 8.2) and Server Side Sync recognize previously synchronized records, or are there steps we need to take to avoid duplicate contacts and activities?
