Hello all,

I'm trying to connect my BC's environment data with Inventory Power BI App for business central . I gave my Company and Environment under parameters while connecting, after a while the data is not getting refreshed and a waring is popping up . Attached the screenshot FYI.

Please let me know how to solve it if any one faced the same previously.

Thanks in advance !!

Regards
Kishor

    Hi Kishor,

When Power BI reports show sample data and fail to refresh, it usually means the connection to your BC environment wasn’t fully established or the dataset couldn’t authenticate properly.

    Here’s what’s possible:

    • First, double-check the Company Name and Environment parameters you entered. These must match exactly with the values in BC, use the Name field from the Companies page, not the display name. For Environment, use Production unless you’ve created a sandbox.
    • Go to Power BI → Settings → Dataset → Data Source Credentials and re-enter your credentials. If the credentials are invalid or expired, the refresh will silently fail and default to sample data.
    • On the Web Services page in BC, make sure the required services for the Inventory app are published. If they’re missing or unpublished, the app won’t be able to pull real data.
    • Also check the Power BI Insights Connector version in BC. A mismatch between the connector and the Power BI app version can cause refresh errors.
    • If you’re using Power BI Pro or Premium, confirm that your workspace has enough capacity and that the dataset isn’t exceeding limits. You can test with a smaller dataset or filter by date range to reduce load.

Make sure the environment and company names in Power BI match exactly what’s in Business Central. Then go to your dataset settings in Power BI, re-enter the data source credentials, and try refreshing again. Also check if your user has the right permissions in BC. Reinstalling the app can help if nothing else works.
