Invalid User Authentication error for CRM Online

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

I have signed up for a CRM online trial.

Every time I open the link in IE I get an error that says:

Invalid User Authentication

The User Authentication passed to the platform is not valid.

If I use Chrome I get the chance to enter my credentials and they work.

What is going on here?

I also faced this issue, try to clear browser and then try or after getting this error just try to access your organization url again.

I had similar error, cleared IE history and then tried again. But using inPrivate browsing. For me that worked.

Thanks Neil for the tip, inPrivate browsing allows me to actually enter the alternate credentials and allows me to log in using IE.

Great answer but think would have been even better if you told people how to actually enable inPrivate browsing and the reason why this is needed in first place.

To enable inprivate browsing, with IE, right click on the IE icon in your task bar and select "in private browsing."

Or if using Chrome, right click and select incognito.

Once you have an inprivate session login to the trial as normal.

I think the reason behind wanting to do this is that if you are already authenticated on a domain then when you load your browser without in private it will automatically try to authenticate using your default credentials. These aren't the ones you are using for the trial. So using the in private browser gets round this.

The problem I am having at the moment is that the solution doesn't work for me whether browsing is private or not. I am trying to access demo provisioned from (https://www.microsoftdynamicsdemos.com/), which uses my personal Microsoft account which is linked to our corporate Microsoft partner account. I suspect it has something to do with the account association but its a pain trying to figure out root course. In short looks like the demo isn't linked to the Azure Active directory user account. I'd appreciate any help if anyone encountered this scenario

For me the issue happens if I log into Dynamics CRM online with a onmicrosoft.com user that is authorized on a different instance and select "Remember my credentials".

In these situations, a private session to the original crm instance will work but not a regular session. If I then go on the "different" instance and log off there. This enables me to enter my credentials when I next try to log into the "original" instance.
