Either D365FO V37 or V38 has introduced new parameter for Microsoft Graph. These parameters are visible on email parameters page.
After searching, it seems Microsoft Graph enables a lot of functionality across many products. However, in D365FO (it seems from documentation) that Microsoft Graph is only used for sending emails.
We currently use smtp since we are only interested in sending emails and there is no planned usage for for e.g. integration with calendar etc. If the above statement is correct then we will keep on using smtp.
I am still confused, whether uptake of this feature is necessary since official documentation suggests that it is only used for mail and Anthony mentions it is being used for users etc (i think that is handled by secret assigned to Aure Entra ID though). Let us see if something breaks down in the next couple of months.
Dynamics 365 is using it under the hood for users and security (Entra ID integration) as well. Related to your question, I think Anthony provided the answer. Can you confirm that?
Exchange email will stop working somewhere in September 2024. If you are using SMTP this will not affect your settings. Anyway, with the continuous updates, you should regularly install the latest version.
No news of anything calendar related yet, but this of course enables the possibility in future updates.
