How to implement a manager override functionality in AX Retail POS

Anyone has pointers to how we can implement a manager override functionality of POS operations?

The client does not want to use the permissions functionality in AX/POS but instead wants to enable a manager to come over and approve specific operations.

So the cashier would get a pop-up asking for manager credentials when performing certain operations - like returning an item or similar.

I would prefer to implement a generic solution if it's possible to hook into any operation and then check if the specific operation requires manager approval. Otherwise I might have to find specific triggers for a limited number of operations and hook into them.

I would also need functionality that can verify manager's credentials.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thx

I don't quite understand what you mean by "The client does not want to use the permissions functionality in AX/POS" because that functionality supports the exact behavior you are after.

If you open the Retail > Setup > POS > Operations form, it is possible to specify a default permission required to perform that task. For example, if you were to choose the "Set Quantity" operation and choose the "managerPrivileges", only workers with that POS permission could perform the function. If they didn't have the POS permission then they will be presented with a logon dialog to enable the manager to authenticate and perform the function.

The only issue seems to be if you want to lock down a blank operation or a sub menu as the POS permission seems to be against the whole operation type.
