Payables Remittance numbers skipping

Hi,

My client must keep track of their payables EFT Remittance numbers. Unfortunately the numbers randomly skip ahead by one, or even several numbers on occasion.

They swear they do not print alignment forms, nor do they void EFT payments.

Any ideas on what else could cause this?
