Import Solution Error: 0x80048021 uniquename on Business workflow

When I try to import an solution containing changes to the Lead entity from test to production. The import errors out at the Business workflow with error code 0x80048021 and with nothing more than uniquename as the reason.

I tried changing the name, doesn't work same error. I can't delete it from the production instance as its a part of another managed solution. Only difference I can find is in the other name in the workflow, in test its new_bpf_b1d327dc61f3413f851bf5171337b23b and production qss_bpf_b1d327dc61f3413f851bf5171337b23b, considering this is a field I can't change in the workflow and it worked before upgrading the production instance to 8.2 one might wonder if this is really the problem.

I'm working with CRM Online version 8.2 right now, in the previous version 8.1 I have pushed many changes to the leads entity, but never came across this error, I've been looking everywhere but I can't seem to figure out how to fix this problem.

0x80048021 uniquename

Try changing the publisher of the solution you are trying to import from new_ to qss_. Then try export and re-import.

You can delete the workflow from production default solution by going to Settings>> Customizations>> Customize the System. Publish after delete and try to import the workflow

For now I exported the solution as version 8.1 so I could get the import done a quickly as possible. Exporting it as 8.1 excludes the workflow causing the issue automatically.

I'll have to try changing the publisher next time I try to import again, that could be the solution to my problems.

Thanks for the responses so far!

I have the exact same problem as you describe: Workflow id changed to new_ in my development sandbox instance. No way to delete the duplicate in my testing instance where I'm trying to import the solution into. Changing the names of either the workflows doesn't help either.

This problem also occurred for the first time when I upgraded to version 8.2.

I don't think I would be able to change the import version to 8.1. Got too many changes that requires the new version...
Did you find a solution? In that case I would love to hear it

Unfortunately no, I tried the solution suggested above by changing the publisher, but that didn't work still the same error.

Should I stumble on the solution, i'll post it here for everyone to know.

I did say I would provide a solution if I did find one, so here it is.

I had no other choice but to make a copy of the original Business Workflow and add it to the solution. This imports fine to production, all that is left is to deactivate the original in production and activate the copy.

From that point on, the original just sits there in CRM gathering dust, forever deactivated.

Hope this solution helps anyone having this issue as well.
