Exception handling via recurring API

Hi All,

We are currently using Data Management Recurring Integration without middleware like logic apps to import data from third-party applications into D365 Finance and Operations. I’m looking for a way to send exception details back to the third-party system.

For example, if the third party sends 100 records and 5 of them fail (e.g., they don’t get inserted into the staging table), we need to send those 5 failed records along with the error details back to the third party.

Has anyone implemented a solution for this kind of error handling and feedback loop? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance!

There is an endpoint for retrieving the errors from the recurring integration execution, take a look at an example here:

The enqueue step for the recurring integration returns a message ID, you then use an endpoint to retrieve the Execution Id, then another endpoint to retrieve the errors for the Execution.

It think below are some of the ways you can handle logging errors

    1. Custom Batch Job + DMF Staging Log Table
    2. Event Handler + File Generation
    3.  Use Execution Summary API (PowerShell/Logic App – optional)

    Thanks
