Tracking a users actions within the CRM

ReportReport

I would like to know if there is a way to generate a report on a specific user to determine what actions they have performed in the CRM each week. This report would be presented to the Business Development Manager to account for their time.

Thanks

First of all, there is the Business Productivity Newsfeed

    http://crmaccelerators.codeplex.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=24307

which you can modify to rollup whatever user activities you like.

If you want something more comprehensive codeplex also has a few audit add-ons for Dynamics CRM. You could then report on the audit logs.

If you want to get down to when users log in to the system, which parts of Dynamics CRM they go to etc. you may need to report on the IIS logs.

As a word of caution, one of the biggest hurdles for a successful implementation of a CRM system is user adoption. If the system becomes seen as 'big brother' you may find users passively resist using it and the system becomes an expensive virtual paperweight.

    Hi Brian,

Low tech approach would be to run Advanced Find queries on activities for your users in a certain time span. You could e.g. choose only e-mails and phone calls, run the query and export everything to a pivot table to work with the data. After that you could look at opportunities created, closed etc. in this time.

The better solution would obviously be SQL Reporting Services, which allow you to show everything in one report and with one click, so that's more powerful in every way. The report builder in CRM might the first option to start if you're not familiar with the Reporting Services solution (I'm fighting with it right now...).

    Hope this helps, Henrik.
