Dynamics Portals : Portal contacts differentiation from MS CRM contacts

I am working in a project where i need to run a workflow only for the Portal users (contacts). Here i need to seperate the portal contacts out of all but what should be the condition to do this?

I think, since every portal contact will be under ownership of "SYSTEM", but i cant add filter of owner="SYSTEM" in workflow "if-condition" step.

Is there any other way I can filter this scenario.

    Hi Revanth,

If yoiu need to find the contacts who have access to portal then you can check for the username field on the contact.

If you are trying to find the records created from portal then you can check the fullname of the user from the createdby field i.e.

if createdby (User): fullname equals 'System' (you can type in system here

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Revanth,

Any user who is having access on portal has values presented in 'Username' and 'Password Hash' fields on his/her Contact record.

So in workflow, you can put a condition. If username and password hash contains data then process else stop.

Mark it as answer, If it helps.

    Cheers

    Hi Arpit,

Is there any better way to identify Portal Users from all the CRM Contacts?

    Hi Revanth,

Once a user successfully registered on Portal and able to SignIn then below are the fields presented in CRM Contact form (Portal Contact) for that user.

It's up to you which field or field combination you use to identify the Portal User. Above information does not get auto-populate for non-portal users.

If you find the answer useful, please mark it as verified
