    Hi,

Thanks for your question. To set up a UK legal entity with VAT in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, here are the key prerequisites you should consider:

    • Legal entity setup: Ensure the legal entity is created with the correct country/region code set to "GB" for the United Kingdom.

    • Tax authorities: Create a tax authority representing HMRC, which will be used for VAT reporting and settlement.

    • Tax codes and tax groups: Define VAT tax codes (e.g., standard rate, reduced rate, zero rate) and assign them to appropriate tax groups based on your business needs.

    • Tax registration number: Enter the VAT registration number for the legal entity under the tax registration section.

    • Tax setup in posting profiles: Configure tax posting profiles to ensure VAT is correctly posted to the general ledger.

    • Tax reporting setup: Set up the VAT reporting parameters, including the report format and periods, to comply with UK requirements.

    • Electronic reporting (ER): If you're using Making Tax Digital (MTD), ensure ER configurations are in place for VAT submissions.

    •

These steps will help ensure your UK legal entity is properly configured for VAT compliance in D365FO.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Hi Dolly,

It is always better to start from official documentation of Microsoft.

Try to work basis on this document and post the issues you are facing.

    Hello Daniel,

For On-premise environments, same configurations need to be set up? The customer doesn't intend to use Dataverse for now, so can we simply enable the basic ER configurations as suggested?

    Thank you.
