Back-to-back trading functionality

Hi,

In our business we trade back-to-back, hence sales order(s) are always connected to purchase orders(s) and the traded product and quantity are at both the sales & purchase side.

Is there a functionality / add-on that allows to create this 'trade capture' interface with connected sales & purchases orders?

To give an example, we would like to enter trades like below into business central (just a basic example)

Any suggestion or advise is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Trade ID Seller Price Quantity Buyer Price Quantity Trade date
00001.A Seller A 100 100 Buyer A 102 30 20/04/2023
00001.A Buyer B 105 40 20/04/2023
00001.A Buyer C 101 30 20/04/2023
I have the same question (0)

You mean you want a report that shows the data in that way or are you actually looking to do data entry in that way?

I mean you can create a purchase order on basis of a sales order so I am not sure I see a need for a data entry like that.

As far as I know, the standard does not have such a function. But if you use the Special Orders or Drop Shipments features, a simple customization should do the trick.

    Drop Shipments:

    Special Orders:

    Hope this helps

    Thanks.

Hi Inge, really appreciate you response. This could work. Any idea if there are functionalities where you can create sales & purchase orders in the same entry?

Please go through the documentation for special orders and see if that is something you can build on.

It is possible to do customizations on top of the special order functionality.

    Hello,

Business Central supports back-to-back trading through Special Orders or Drop Shipments, which automatically link sales and purchase orders so quantities and pricing stay aligned.
For more complex trades (multiple buyers/sellers or trade IDs), you’ll need a custom extension or third-party trading add-on.

    Regards,

This question is over two years old. I don’t think the original poster is still looking for a solution.

    Hi All,

would like to revive this conversation as we have similar trading situation where in back-to back situation is similar.

The point we see is that sales might have prepayments, quantity differences to during pickups and delivery etc requires back to back transaction processing with a final outcome is that trade inventory is zero, losses and adjustments are charged back to vendors.

To achieve this apart from special orders and drop shipments visualising its better with some additional trade ID binding (something like order to order binding in reservation in production between sales -> production -> purchase) which consolidates sales & purchase sides.

Any Add-ons or similar solution approach would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Sreekanth
