Word Templates GP 2013

ReportReport

All,

I have a word template for a SOP Blank Invoice.  I have made a lot of changes to the word side and now the client wants the Item Description field to be made larger.  It looks like I will have to go back into the base report and change the field size there and then recreate the template.  Is this correct?  I really don't want to lose all of the changes I made in word.  Is there a way to do this without starting over?

Thank you,

    Hi,

You do not have to redo your changes. You are right that you need to go back to Report Writer and make the field larger, but you would then print the Report Writer report to an XML file. After that, modify your template and click on the Developer tab in Word. Select the Field List. Open up the field list and then select 'Remove Source', after that, select Add Source. Select the xml file you just created. Go to your layout and replace the Item Description with the new field (remove the old one). Save your template to your desktop and go back to Dynamics. On the Report Template Maintenance Screen, hit the green plus sign button and go pick the document you just saved on your desktop. Answer 'yes' to replace the existing report, or name it something new to be safe. I would name it something different. That should do it.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
