Hi All,

we have this environment that lately has been disabled models as per below screen shot, can you please share any ideas how to make them enabled ?

Seems that you don't have models (source code) for these elements anymore. Instead you have installed a deployable package that contains only the binaries (DLL) of your customizations.

Am I correct? Did you install a deployable package in this system?

To get them enabled, simply get latest from source control. This will give you the source code.

Thank you Nikolaos, what happened exactly, that vs was connected to a project and everything was checked in, i connected it to another project, then all the models disappeared, then i created a local directory from the old project and got the latest from devops, then copied the models to the aoslocalpackage directory.

    Thank you,

You should work only with one project from one dev system.

And you should not copy any models manually, instead get latest to get latest, and then work with it.

Thanks a lot Nikolaos, i got latest, and all models were enabled.

i just need to confirm with you my below thread that on premises 7.3 environment REQUIRES upgrade on LCS through code upgrade service , as the below on-premises documentation does not mention anything about code upgrade, as i understood it is only for data upgrade, and i have overlayered code on my 7.3 enviornment .

i just want to confirm with you that i need to upgrade my code to extensions through lcs code upgrade service and do the data upgrade as mentioned in the below documentation !

    My thread :

    community.dynamics.com/.../986484

    Microsoft Documentation on on-premises environment:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../on-prem-upgrade

    Thanks a lot.

Yes, you need to do code upgrade. And you can't have any overlayered code anymore. The docs could be clearer but since most customers have upgraded to 8+ version (no overlayering allowed) a long time ago, the docs seem not to higlight that anymore.

Here's the doc that mentions code upgrade: docs.microsoft.com/.../self-service-upgrade

And yes, that doc is for the cloud version but the need for code upgrade is for on-premises as well. I agree that the docs are a bit unclear or scattered on some topics.

thanks a lot Nikolaos for all the help , can i start data upgrade before applying the upgraded deployable package ? or we need to finish code upgrade then upgrade the database as cloud version ?  if i can start so i can work in parallel with the developers that are upgrading the code.

    Thanks.

No you can't. For the data upgrade you need a system that is running the new version (including your customizations). Data upgrade means updating your data so that it can run on the new codebase. So obviously you need the new codebase before you can do that.
