Fixed Asset Depreciation Projection

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

What is the best way to forecast future monthly depreciation by asset "group" for budgeting purposes?  Is there an existing report with this type of format?

    Hello Jule,

I just checked my old documents but don't have exported this report project. The only thing that I have available are the documents that I used for this post. If you need it then please send me a short note to my private email.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig,

I've got also the question if it is possible to make FA depreciation forecast for the next years. We use AX2012 R3, one FA value model and no depreciation books.

I came across your blog https://dynamicsax-fico.com/2015/02/22/depreciation-forecast-report/

Could you possibly explain a bit, what minor adjustments exactly you made to get the cumulated forecast values, and not separately for each fixed asset?

Unfortunately I couldn't recognize that from the screenshot in the blog:

    Thank you very much!

    Hello dinashot,

Do you need this for GP or AX?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

This report does not exist in GP2018.  How can I get projected depreciation/amortization for 2020?

Another solution is to use a FA journal with a depreciation proposal in the future date.

    Hello Jim,

In addition, there is a country-specific report available that you might use for your purpose. I once described it here: dynamicsax-fico.com/.../depreciation-forecast-report

    Maybe this does also help.

    All the best,

    Ludwig

Thanks, Ludwig.  I am looking for a report that shows projected monthly depreciation expense of existing assets for future periods.  I would like it summarized to the asset group level.  We would use this report to create the future year budgets for existing assets.  It really is a projected depreciation journal for future months.  Again, thanks for your help and input!

    Hi Jim,

If you record Budget values on fixed assets then you can can make use of the Report "future value of fixed assets" available in the Report section in the FA module.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig
