Web Interactions - different tracking codes for different Brands, Domains and Business Units

We have a single instance with 3 different brands in different countries working out of dedicated BUs (effectively each brand/country combination as its own BU).

We want to implement Web Interactions but need to keep the data separated. As an example:

Brand 1 uses www.domain.com

Can we create different tracking codes for each brand and apply them to the relevant website?

Web Interactions - different tracking codes for different Brands, Domains and Business Units

Yes, Customer Insights – Journeys (CIJ) supports generating multiple JavaScript tracking codes, each tied to a specific website domain and Business Unit (BU). This setup ensures that:

    • Brand 1 (e.g., www.domain.com) has its own tracking code, scoped to its BU.

    • Brand 2 (e.g., www.differentdomain.com) uses a separate tracking code and BU.

    •

This approach helps maintain data separation across brands and regions operating within a single CIJ instance.

    Steps to Implement

    1. Enable Business Units

Before creating tracking codes, ensure that Business Units are enabled and configured. This feature scopes marketing assets and interaction data to specific BUs.

    2. Authenticate Domains

Each brand’s domain must be authenticated to support email sending and form tracking.

    3. Create Separate Tracking Codes

Navigate to Settings > Customer Engagement > Web Interactions in CIJ.

    For each brand/domain:

    • Create a new tracking script.

    • Assign it to the appropriate Business Unit.

    •

    4. Deploy Tracking Code

Embed the correct script on the corresponding website.

Ensure each site only uses the script tied to its brand and BU.

    5. Verify Data Separation

Use the Web Interactions dashboard to confirm that data is flowing into the correct BU.

You can filter by BU to validate segmentation and ensure proper data isolation.
