I have read numerous articles on this an I understand that if an opportunity is 'quick' created then the opportunity stage is blank, rather than qualified. You can resolve this by moving the opportunity to the next stage and then back, but of course I don't want to keep doing that!
I have followed the instructions in this thread https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/p/199882/769492#769492
creating a workflow for opportunity sales stage does not contain data, but I don't understand the last section of creating the workflow and I can't get it to work. Can anyone help please?

Hello,
I've raised the very same issue with the CRM PG a few months ago and unfortunately the response i got back then was that this is a design limitation as the quick create form does not use the same SDK as the main form.
To work around the issue, you can manipulate the Bpf using the guidelines from following article: docs.microsoft.com/.../model-business-process-flows
As per the same article, you need to keep in mind that: "Manipulating process related attributes (such as ProcessId, StageId, and TraversedPath) on entities enabled for business process flows does not guarantee consistency of the business process flow state, and is not a supported scenario"
You can try ti raise this with MS Support and see if you get a different answer though - who knows :)
Hope this helps,
Radu
