Power Apps with FNO OneBox VM

Am I correct in assuming that it is not possible to build Power Apps over Microsoft Dynamics for Finance and Operations when the latter is running as a VM (OneBox) hosted on a physical computer?  In my understanding, Dataverse (CDS) cannot be exposed to Power Apps in this configuration, but I just wanted confirmation that you technical wizards out there have not managed to overcome this limitation.  I am seeking a way to build experimental Power Apps over D365 FNO data without access to a cloud-hosted D365 FNO environment.

    Hi KTJN,

    Using the local VMs there is no option to connect them to Power Apps using the F&O connector in Power Apps. You can consider an on-premise gateway connector to connect e.g. to the local SQL server, but this is not a supported scenario for a production environment.

    Firstly, may I say that I have lost count of the number of times your numerous posts have dug me out of various holes and difficulties over the years - so thank you retrospectively for the number and the quality of your contributions to this and similar forums.

    Secondly, indeed I had already prototyped using the on-premise gateway for direct updates on the SQL server of my VM, (and of course I corrupted the database almost immediately!)
