Hello All -
I have created account structures where certain dimensions can only be entered with other dimensions. This setup works when entering general journals and invoice journals but there is no validation on free text invoices, purchase orders, pending vendor invoices. I get the intended results when using derived dimensions but the client doesn't really like this setup.
Please reference the screen shots provided below:
Screen shot #1 - for all expense accounts I am requiring that Office dimension 'FOX' is only valid with Discipline dimensions CAP and AQU;
Office dimension 'PHI' is only valid with Discipline dimensions CTO.
Screen shot #2 - is a general journal where the Fox dimension is entered and the only Discipline dimensions available in the choice list are CAP and AQU which is what I would expect.
Screenshot #3 - is from a pending vendor invoice. The same validation that worked for the general journal is not activated in this example. The choice list for dimensions Office and Discipline shows all rather than those specified in the account structure.
** Why does the validation not work for the pending vendor invoice? I'm guessing it's because there is no ledger account included in the financial dimensions string as there is on a general journal but I'm not sure.
Please advise as to how I can configure the above account structure to work in all scenarios/transactions where financial dimensions are entered.
Thanks in advance!
The advanced rules can be filtered and enforced for ledger accounts. When you enter details for subledger, like projects or vendors, it is at that moment not directly known what ledger account(s) will be involved during posting. For that reason, the filtering is not working, but validation and posting will apply the rules per ledger account.
