Master planning not exploding sub level on certain items, It works when launched manually

Hello folks, I'm having some issue pinpointing what's causing a certain behavior in the master planning.

Let's make an example:

I've created a sales order SO0001 for item ITEM-A1 , config 0001

The ITEM-A1 config 0001 order type is production and has the BOM BOM0001 with 2 lines:

line 1 , phantom, --> ITEM-P1  (production, has its own bom)

line 2 --> ITEM-G1 (purchase)

When master planning runs, it consistently doesn't explode the sub level: in the explosion form all that I see is the PLO production order for the ITEM-A1, I was expecting a "dynamic" PLO for the ITEM-P1 and all the stuff enderneath it, and the purchase PLO  for ITEM-G1.

If I then decide to hit the button "explosion" in the explosion form (the so callled Mini-Mrp) it correctly explodes and shows the ITEM-P1 dynamic PLO and the ITEM-G1 purchase PLO

If I create another Sales Order SO0002 on another item, let's say ITEM-B1 config 0004, that has the same exact bom BOM0001 the master planning explodes correctly and magically "fixes" also the explosion in the previous sales order

The bom is approved/active, bom dates are ok, I've run the recalculate bom levels a thousand times already

For both the ITEM-A1 and ITEM-B1 the coverage is the same.

I've the feeling I'm missing something very basic.

Any suggestion is deeply appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Supp,

Do you change the explosion view option in the explosion form?

    Which version are you using?

    Could you share the screenshots?

No I didn't change the explosion view options.

    Version is on-premise 10.0.15 (10.0.644.20047)

    Here are the screenshots:

    1)After full MRP (no explosion)

And after clicking explode on the same form (as I said previously, the same result can be achieved by adding the bom to another item, create a Sales order on it and run a full mrp )

It's like there's something weird happening calculating the bom level when that bom is linked only to that specific item...

    Hi Supp,

I donot have this version, but i tested in version 10.0.9 and 10.0.17, and it works fine.

How about creating a new product with new bom and sub-bom?

Please check the value of BOM explosion time fence in the item coverage and value of explosion in Master plans

It is recommended to create a support ticket for Mcirosoft to check.

    Hi MATTGUO and thanks,

I can't replicate this behavior with a new product with new bom and sub-bom.

I've checked Bom explosion time fences:

    - On the item there's no Item coverage setup. (I've tried setting one up for this specific config with value 1000)

    - There's also no item coverage group specified for the item, but in the "fallback" Item coverage group (Requirements) it's 750  (I've tried assignin one with value 1000)

    - In the master planning override it's 1000 (I've tried increasing it to 2000)

As for the support ticket, one of microsoft's partner is following us for d365

Just checkin' if I'm luckier here.

    To elaborate a bit further...

I've been checking the InventDistingProduct Table (that from my understanding should contain the "planning bom level")

after I run the Recalculate BOM level job, the levels are OK from my point of view

But when I run full MRP (No filters) this happens:

You can notice the items are on the same level now, and I think that's why it's skipping the J999*

The J999* should be the children of item 315* and on another level.

Any hint on what could cause this?

Hi, I have the same problem.

In the past I had the same problem and I found out that the problem is the wrong level in InvenDistinctProduct.

This level was wrong for the items:

I have a production order for item ABC and in the bom i have the same item ABC (re-work order).

    I haven't found a solution.

Can you share screenshots of your configuration?

    Hi Lorne,

I try to explain the situation:

    item ABC001 (InventDistinctProduct.level =0)

    bom:

    ABC001_01 (InventDistinctProduct.level =1)

    ABC001_02 (InventDistinctProduct.level =1)

    item ABC001_01

    bom:

    ABC001_01_A (InventDistinctProduct.level =2)

    ABC001_01_B (InventDistinctProduct.level =2)

    item ABC001_01_A

    bom:

    ABC001_01_A_01 (InventDistinctProduct.level =3)

    ABC001_01_A_02 (InventDistinctProduct.level =3)

Sometimes ABC001_01_A_01 has a wrong level, for example InventDistinctProduct.level =1 so mrp skips it.

I can't know which items are skipped and i can't know if my planned orders are correct

I saw this error in more environment but i can't reproduce it in a std environment.

I don't know how solve it.

I noticed thath this behavior occours when rework order exists.

    Have you any suggestion?

    thanks,

    Sara
