(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi All,

While invoicing the hour journal, User invoiced with different date.According to the Hour journal date, they did not post the invoice. Exchange rate value is having different values between the two dates. So, Some variations is displaying in the Voucher transactions and in the report.

Can you please any body give me the advice to solve this exchange rate fluctuation  for Time and material project.

Thanks & Regards,

G. Abila

    Hi Abila,

Can you explain a bit more on your requirements and the difference with current behavior? Note that you can set a fixed exchange rate for the complete project on the Project contract but this might not be your requirement.

    Hi Andre,

    Thanks for your reply.

(E.g): In the currency master, Exchange rate value is fixed as Different exchange rate value for different date.

While invoicing the hour journal by on account, User has invoiced for different date.

So, While running the Project WIP Report, WIP-Sales value is  displaying the variation amount. But, Hour qty is displayed as Zero value. The project was invoiced completely . But, still some variation is displayed in the report. I want zero value in the report. Please give me advice how to solve the exchange rate fluctuation in the AX 2009 environment.

    Thanks & Regards,

    G. Abila

    Hello Abila,

What I got is that you have a remaining balance on your WIP sales value account caused by a foreign currency fluctuation. Is that right?

Can you check what the project WIP reconciliation report shows you? (GL/reports/Project/Reconciliation/Ledger reconciliation - WIP).

Have you run foreign currency revaluations in AP, AR and GL?

    Hi, Thanks to all.

Yes. It was happened, due to foreign rate fluctuation. I gave the advice as raise the credit note and create new invoice proposal for corresponding hour journal.

Hi Ludwig. I have the same issue and the discrepancy amount does appear on the Ledger reconciliation – WIP report. I ran foreign currency revaluations, but I didn’t run it on the WIP account. When I try running it on the WIP account through GL FX, it only updates GL, it doesn’t change the WIP amount on the Project itself. Is there way to fix the project side?

    Hi Tatyana Wentzel,

The GL FX revaluation does not affect your projects.

Why do you need to run a foreign currency revaluation for your projects?

Can you be sure that the report data are correct because a couple of hotfixes have been released for the Ledger-WiP reconciliation report.

Probably check the hotfixes on LCS first.

If you cannot find something on LCS can you analyze the transactions and their origin to identify what caused the issue?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

When timesheet was posted, WIP was posted at one exchange rate, and when timesheet was later invoiced, WIP was cleared at the different exchange rate. So, even though, in the transactional currency WIP is cleared, in the reporting currency , there is an amount sitting on the project WIP. I'm just looking for ideas of how to clear it.

    Hi Tatyana,

Why do you want to clear this at all?

For what purpose do you use the secondary currency?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Ludwig. We have USD contract in India company, which has INR as a reporting currency. So, WIP is posted in USD, while INR is the reporting currency. The reason we want to clean is because it's showing on the project statement. When project is complete, WIP should be 0. But in this case, it's showing an amount that we can't zero out.
