Dynamics GP across VPN

Currently we have an onsite Dynamics 2010 installed and three users remote in to local workstations using Logmein - works fine - but we are getting a Checkpoint appliance installed at both locations and so the thought is that we create a always on VPN between the two locations and install Dynamics GP on each remote machine - point Dynamics to the main SQL database - any reason that this will not work? and if so what's an alternative low cost options.

I think it would work but I'll be concerned about the performance of GP over a VPN.

currently it is going over the net via logmein - so can't be worse - the Rep.that installed Dynamics says that the client and the SQL Server have to be on the same LAN - if they are tunneling through wouldn't they be on the same LAN?

If the connection is not fast, the latency to the SQL server will be too great (remember the VPN also add overhead - encryption). Losing connectivity to a remote workstation while it is posting is not at all bad (posting still happens). Losing connectivity to SQL during posting will corrupt your database.

This configuration you're planning is never recommended.
