Partial Assembly Delivery

Hi community.. This question is related with Production and Sales order.

This is the Scenario:

We have a sales order for 10 PCS ot Product A00001

The BOM contains SA0001 and SA0002 for 1 PCS per 1 each.

Once the main work order is estimated and BOM exploted I get three WorkOrders

WO0001 for 10 PCS of A00001

WO0002 for 10 PCS of SA0001

WO0003 for 10 PCS of SA0002

Starting production for WO0002 and WO0003.

Report as Finished of 5 for WO0002 and 7 for WO0003

Report as Finished of 5 PCS for WO0001.

I kept 2 PCS of SA0002 in stock and I want to deliver those pieces too within the same Sales order.

Is that even possible.. I do not agree in first place to ship subassemblies because on Sales Order the Product is A00001 so We sold A00001 not any SA*.

However I got the question from users becase sometimes.. The pieces are sold as assemblies, but really assembled by the Customer at his plant.. I suggested to create sales order for SA* products instead A* products but seem like is the customer who bought an A* product  and want that single item be displayed in his Invoice.

So.. any comments on this scenario?

    RE: Partial Assembly Delivery

    Hi Alejandro,

It's not an uncommon requirement from customers to have a top level item in a sales order line and to then have requests to ship subassemblies. It can also be because of size requirements, as once it is assembled the product is to big to fit in one shipment and needs to be dissasembled into parts (sub-assemblies) and fit onto trucks that are shipped at different times (sometimes weeks apart). There is no out-of-the-box way to solve this except selling the actual sub-assemblies on the sales order and shipping them like that. A customization is definitely needed depending on your customer requirements.

    Best Regards,
