Spacing differences between the editor and the email client

hi.. we are fairly new to using customer insights journeys (real time journeys).  one of the frustrating things we find is that when we are working in the editor our layouts look as we want them.  we preview them on all the devices shown but when we send a test email (segment with specific contacts for testing) the actual email often has more spacing between sections and even within the same text block.  any suggestions on how we can minimize this issue?

     1. Use Table-Based Layouts Where Possible
    • Avoid relying solely on divs/CSS for layout.
    • Customer Insights Journeys uses MJML under the hood — stick to its structure (<mj-section>, <mj-column>, etc.).

     2. Check for Extra Line Breaks
    • In text blocks, extra <br> tags or auto-inserted line breaks can add spacing.
    • Use the HTML view in the editor to remove unintended <br> or <p> tags.

     3. Avoid Inline Styling Overload
    • Don’t mix inline styles and MJML styles excessively.
    • Be consistent with padding/margins — use the same method across all blocks.

     4. Set Exact Spacing
    • Define padding and line-height explicitly for all sections and text blocks.
    <mj-text padding="0px" line-height="20px">

     5. Test in Real Email Clients
    • The in-editor preview and device views aren’t 100% reliable.
    • Use Litmus or Email on Acid for accurate multi-client rendering tests.

     6. Keep It Simple
    • Complex nested structures increase the risk of spacing issues.
    • Stick to 1- or 2-column layouts and avoid too many nested elements.

thank you.  the business users are not familiar with html, CSS etc.  The suggestion to keeping it simple 1-2 columns is excellent.  Regarding the preview for email clients.. I note that the microsoft articles mention that this feature applies only to outbound marketing?  I will look at the email on acid

We're also facing this issue. Feels like a bug.

Should be fairly straightforward to format an email, but yet it isn't currently.
