Negative Number

Hi, I am trying to represent a negative number in CRM. I can enter -$3.00 in a currency filed but when I try to do that while building a workflow it will only allow me to enter numbers. No symbols are allowed.

What I am doing is multiplying a number of items X unit cost. In the result filed, this represents inventory put back as opposed to taken.  See below

Taken 5*.19= $.090 - Multiply units X cost to get total. (This is fine and works as desired.)

-------------------------------------------------

Returned 5*.19= $.090  - Multiply units X cost to get total.

Run Returned workflow to update Returned Field to negative currency amount.

Returned 5*.19= ($.090)

This is what I need it to look like but I cant add the - symbol to a currency field in a workflow.

Thoughts?

    Hi,

Try changing your user's options. Go to Formats => Customize, and one of the options is for the Negative Number Format. If you change that you should be good to go. Here's screenshot:

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

No, it doesn't work. I am trying to input the - symbol and then adding a slug from the menu in the workflow.

Is it possible to indicate that the transcation record is of type "return", and create a workflow that for records of type "return" will reduce the inventory using the workflows decrement command in dynamic values?

Could you explain the over all funtionality you want to implement?

Also what version of CRM are you using?

I don't understand your problem - are you trying to get a negative number displayed a certain way, or do you want a text value that looks like a negative number?

    Thanks,

     Aiden

So if my field says $20.00. I need a workflow to update that field to ($20.00). I don's see anyway I can update the field to ($20.00) via workflow.

    Make sense?

    Hi,

Yes, that makes sense. No, you can't do it out of the box. It would be pretty easy to write a custom workflow assembly to invert the number though.

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

    Aiden

I had an original entity record and a create record. I should have been using the create record for my calculation. Sorry for the confusion but you helped me re-think the whole thing...:)
