Remove Unapplied payments and unapplied returns

A few months ago my company starting using the Sales module and during the initial few months some mistakes were made while we were trying to get a handle on the module. We currently have a few unapplied sales returns and a few unapplied payments sitting in our module and we have nothing to apply them to. Is there anyway to get them out of our system or do I have to create something to apply them to? These payments are a few months old at this point.

You need to have something to apply them to.  Since they are probably from different customers, you will need to enter matching Debit memos for the payments and returns and apply the open payments and returns to these debit memos

    Hi Justin,

You can handle this a couple of ways. First and foremost is to make sure your general ledger still reconciles with your A/R trial balance and cash because everything you do to 'fix' a subsidiary module wants to make a journal entry to GL.

Doing a change to an unapplied payment will want to change cash. Both the checkbook balance and the general ledger balance. When initially posted, how did this entry affect the GL and checkbook?

Changing Returns could impact sales, inventory, AR, Sales tax, etc. Did the returns originate in SOP or RM?

Richard's suggestion is the easiest, just make sure it doesn't throw your checkbook or GL out of whack.

    Kind regards,

    leslie
