Registered company name change

Hi,

While sending invoices out of GP as an attachment using emailing option in GP2010, by default the attachment name will be generated as registered company name + Invoice number. Our GP registred company name is different from our name we use to market our products. Would there be any technical issues in changing the registered company name to a different name ? All report headers would change obviously. Other than that would it affect the GP registration status ?

    No, this will not change the Company Name in FRx or MR.  In both you have to go to the Company setups physically change the names.  These are the names that will print on your reports for company.

    If you change the Company Name, will this automatically be updated in FRx and MR?

    Susan is correct changing the name in Company | Company should not cause any issues

    The registered name and the company name are two totally different species.  Your company name is what you have setup under the Tools>>Setup>>Company>>Company and it is what prints on all your reports.  That is a default on the Great Plains Reports.  It will change in the drop down that you can choose from for your companies.  But it will not at all effect your registration.  If you change your registration name, Great Plains will not work because your registration keys and thecompany registration name combined create an algorithm that lets the software work.

    Yes, I go through Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> Company >> Company and change the name and I surely can save it and it displays as my company name. But I am not sure it's going to affect any of my other process as the registered name had changed.

    I believe the Registered name (as entered in Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> System >> Registration) is tied to the licence key and cannot be changed without a new key.

    Could you use the Company Name (Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> Company >> Company) instead?
