Identify frequency and/or users of Public/System Views to facilitate system clean-up.

Posted on by 10

We are in the process of a considerable cleanup of our system. There are a ridiculous number of system views created by past partners. I desperately want to clean up the clutter, but don't know what is being used and by whom.

I haven't found a way to determine what views are being utilized, last time used, or other indicators that could aid in determining which ones to deactivate.  If I can find even the last time a view was accessed it would be helpful.

I can't be the only person wanting to do this so I'm hoping someone has a solution? Maybe an Add-In or Solution?

Please keep in mind that we are not a "code-heavy" system and do not have a programmer on staff.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, I don't think that those metrics are available (yet). But it can be a good improvement to add in Dynamics 365, so why not adding it to the Ideas portal?

    Hope this helps you.

Thank you for responding.  I appreciate it immensely.

At the most basic level, I am trying to determine if Public/System Views are being used so I can deactivate them without impacting a user. A previous admin partner went crazy creating system views for every minor filter.  Some lists contain 30+ views.

    Hi,

You need to perform manual clean up.

As an admin you can manage the public views , but for the user private views you can inform your users to delete the view they created and not using them now.

There is no automated process available for this.

If required you can list all the views in advance find and perform bulk delete
