Since new UCI has been rolled out, I can no longer find 'Manage roles' + struggling to find an efficient way to check multiple existing users roles

Afternoon all,

our current Dynamics setup involves a few hundred users who have been setup with permissions directly within their security role.

I need to go through each of these records, note down the roles, and then create Teams which will be named accordingly, and the roles will be applied to the teams rather than the users.

On Friday I created an advanced find where I looked at Users, then asked it to bring back all users who appeared from within a list.

Our licencing is handled by AD groups, so I used a tool to pull a list out, then separated it with semi colons, so it would resolve the names.

That worked beautifully, I had my list, was able to click into the 1st one, manage roles, note them down, come back to the user, and then use the down arrow to get to the next record and so on.

Today, the advanced find still works, but when I go to results, the view is different, and if I click on any user in the list, not only is there no 'Manage roles' option, but the up and down arrows are not present.

I'm assuming I am not alone with these struggles, does anyone out there have any workarounds, or useful tools I could use to get this data instead?

I did try going to security, searching for the user, and clicking on them, and that still works, but I wanted to do was perhaps a batch of 20 at a time, but when I find a user, right click, open in new tab, it defaults to the new view with no 'Manage roles' :-(

Thanks

Dan

    Hi,

You won't see Manage Roles button in the Advance Find.

An alternative is to Save your Advance Find Query and navigate to Advanced Settings -> Security -> Users to access the same view.

    For example:

    • Save an Advance Find Query e.g. 'My Custom User View'

    • Then navigate to Users and change the view to 'My Custom User View'.

    • Now you should see Manage Role and other ribbon buttons.

Also I would like to refer XrmToolBox, it has several useful tools and reports related to User Roles, for instance:

    • Users, Team and Security Role report
    • Your user security magnified

    Hi Dan,

I can see 'Manage roles' button in the Advanced Settings > Security > Users or Teams, do you mean this button?
