GP Loading

GP is really slow when we go to load it up every day.  When it is starts to get to the home page, it stalls and says "not responding".  After 60 seconds or so, it kicks in and comes up.

I have blown away the pjournal records, verified odbc setting and removed auto complete records.

 Any thoughts?

 Ryan

Sounds like your network is dropping packets to me, have your network admin log it to see if there are firewall or antiviruse or dropped packet issues from the server to the clients.

I think it is time to run a SQL log through GP and call support.

It is taking about 3 minutes to login from the time I enter my login to the time the home page finishes loading.  I have disabled outlook and tried different machines with different logins.  I get the same results.  Also, I reset the auto complete.

On the GP server, we have 55.5 gigs left of 273.  Also, the RAM is 6 gigs.

I can clear the auto response field for my user, but would it be better to clear for everyone?  Is this is a sql table?  If so, which one?

With the new information you provided ("it is happening on the server install as well")......

How much free space do you have on the drive that hosts the GP databases?  and the drive that hosts the MS-SQL tempdb table?  If disk space is lower that 25% free, you will start getting response time issues.  (The tempdb is used when GP creates temporary tables, it is like virtual memory for MS SQL)

And what amount of RAM memory do you have on the server?

The article is titled Increasing Window Load Speed and says:

As screens are used again and again, the AutoComplete list gets longer and longer. When Dynamics GP is first installed, the list of AutoComplete items is set to 10,000 items per field. As this list grows, it takes longer and longer to load a screen. Under Setup->User->AutoComplete, set the Max. Number of Entries to Store per Field to a realistic number (300?) and Remove Unused Entries After to 20 days.

This also happens when we switch companies as well.  We are on GP 10 SP4.

    Richard,

I didn't see that article on your site.

I am getting this issue on all of the work stations and the server install as well.  Could it be a connectivity issue or I need clear out the auto response tables?  If so, what are the table names for those?

I cleared out the auto fill records, not sure if that is the same thing.

    Re: GP Loading

There are several things to look at and try.  I will list some here.  Check our System Tips in the Archived Tips and Tricks section of our web for some more.

First, memory.  How much do you have on the workstation?  You should have 2g.  I know GP says it works on 1 but it runs real slow and that is what you are seeing.

Second, try clearing the Auto Response tables.  This is described in one of the tips on our site. ( www.AccoladePublications.com )
