I have a Business Portal installation under GP 2010 SP 4, SQL Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008, I have decided to move this BP installation to a new server with Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system, after installing GP and Web Services and restoring the databases backed from the other server, I start to install Business Portal but at the end of the installation it shows me the error attached.

I appreciate your help please,

Failed Loading Packager Data Element (PD_GP_COMMON) for Install Feature (BusinessPortal).

    Yes.. that's what I'm saying..

    According to the system requirements for BP 5.1, only Server 2003, 2008 & 2008R2 are supported..  2012 wasn't even released when 5.1 came out..

    Keep in mind, this is all about SharePoint foundation 2010..

    I am not updating BP. I am moving the same version 5.1 to another server. But in this case to a server with Windows server 2012 R2.

    Following the requirements of Microsoft, update GP 2010 to Service Pack 4 and also apply the last service pack to WebServices. Install SharePoint 2010 SP2.

    So according to what you say BP 5.1 with GP 2010 SP 4, it does not work on Windows Server 2012?

    Thanks Noris,

    We attempted 2 years ago to move our BP server from 5.0 to 6.1 (64-bits) from a 2003 to a 2012 server  I believe, and it failed.. couldn't make it work. As we had upgraded from GP2010 to 2013R2, there was an issue with BP as it wouldn't recognize the back end version of GP and not allow the integration of new GP companies we had created in 2013..

    We ended up doing the upgrade insite on the same 2003 server from 5.0 to 6.0 (32-bits) only.. and that worked.

    Errata: the BP 5.0 has never been updated, as the companies were created before moving to GP 2013 (but we integrated them post BP 4.0 for the same reasons in 2010). Our BP 5.0 is currently running with 2013R2, which is not supported, but the only one we could make work.

    We knew that the support of BP was end-of-life past GP 2013R2, and that we have to look for another solution (GP Web client ?), but until we upgrade our current GP 2013R2, we're safe.. so to speak, because Server 2003 is no longer support by Microsoft and IT is not so happy to not get any updates for this system..

    I know this is not the answer you're looking for, just to give you a warning that it's going to be very tough to get any sort of support for this, as GP 2010 is no longer supported and BP 5.1 is phased out with 2010.. leaving you with only for a couple of months with the combo BP 6.1/GP 2013R2.

    Your best help here could be Rob Bernhardt from Microsoft, as he's one of the support engineers that worked with BP.

    I am moving Business Portal 5.1 to another server, which has Windows server 2012 R2. The previous server had Windows Server 2008 R2.

    Hi Noris,

    You don't mention which version you had running on your old Win2008 server.. so can't be quite sure if this is an 'upgrade' of BP or simply a server move (which involves also the SharePoint foundation re-installation)...

    Have you checked all the requirements on the Microsoft resource page ?
