MR CU 8: only sa can log into MR

I have an issue, the only user who can log into MR is "sa". I have checked the name of the server in the ControlCompany table (GLEntityConnectionInformation column) and the server name is the same as my ODBC connection.

I know that my usrname and password are correct. I can see in the security that the user has access to all the companies, especially since it is under his profile that I id the installation, he is the MR administrator.

I am using the legacy , MR CU8.

Here is the message that I receive: Management Reporter – Unable to connect to the ‘{company XYZ}’. The connection to the Microsoft Dynamics GP database failed. Contact your system administrator.

I have even run a SQL trace and I am seeing that MR doesn't want the windows authentication and wants SQL authentication.

I have tried the KB  2737852 without success.

    I have been through the same case previously, the main root cause of the problem was related primarily to the ODBC. Do you encounter the same problem on other workstations ?

    I've seen this before and it was a mismatch between the ODBC used for Dynamics GP and the connection string used when setting up Management Reporter: www.azurecurve.co.uk/.../management-reporter-legacy-connector-company-logon-works-only-for-sa
