how to check if an object exists in ms dynamics?

I am currently working on a crawler for ms dynamics. But, before crawling the custom object, I want to verify if an object exists in ms dynamics. I want to make an input box for the user to search for an object and only allow to crawl that object if it exists and return an error if it doesn't.

Is there any API that can accept something like the name of the object as the query parameter and returns if the object exists or not?

In dynamics world why you need to search objects like this , users easily use navigation to view objects(Entities) and security roles are there to control access to them .

if you refer object as a record in CRM then you can use search options , you can use rest API and javascripts , or if your are familiar with programming with c# or such you can use sdk

Path1n1 thank you so much for the reply. Actually, the project on which I'm working requires me to verify the existence of an object inside the MS Dynamics instance. I had found a similar thread here on the community itself and there it was discussed that the 'meta' API can be used to verify it. I used that one but, I am getting all the entities inside the system and in the XML format. How can I used it to verify the objects?
