Subcontractor Module

Is there any training on how this subcontractor module works the best?? We were told that GP would be able to recognize when to pay a vendor based of the % complete and paid on the job but I'm not finding how it works that way. Also, does the vendor have to have a pay when paid payment term setup in order for this to work properly?  And if so, how do you set this up?
