I am curious to know if we have any AI tool that can be used to perform automatic code reviews for X++. This is the need of an hour now.

Agree with what you have said here, The code it generates isn't very good. And the role of the lead developer will remain the main hurdle for code reviews.

    Hi,
There are a number of free plug-ins that do code review, such as reviewing your code before uploading it to GitHub, you can use these plugins to help you with code review. At present, using AI for code writing or code review is still an immature idea. In my previous company, some colleagues tried to use AI to generate code, it worked, but the generated code was very lengthy and redundant and cost performance. For experienced developers, the user requirement can be realized with two lines of code, but AI used more than ten lines of code. Therefore, please carefully consider the application of copilot in code review. As Martin said, the leading power of code review should still be in your hands.
    Best regards,
    Kevin

I didn't, but I wouldn't expect any good results, because I don't see any good data it could train on. And if AI can't learn, it doesn't really know anything.

I think a better approach at the moment is utilizing and improving tools for static analysis (e.g. BP check). That's the automated code review you already have at your disposal. Sadly, many teams don't pay attention to these tools (and Microsoft could also fix some bugs, if nothing else).

Also, the role of experienced colleagues is and will be crucial, as long as AI isn't better in all aspects than your most experienced developer. That's something that no one claims at the moment; Microsoft uses the term "copilot" to make clear it's something to assist you, but you're still the main actor. It's not an "auto-pilot".
