Hi All,
Is there a way that legal entities can be made inactive when they are no longer required. eg, sale of a branch.
We are able to restrict access, and keep the periods closed to reduce the possibility these will accidentally be transacted to, but ideally, we would like to remove them from view when selecting an entity from a list.

There is no other way than restricted access and period on hold, I assume you took advantage of assign organization feature to restrict access.
You can change the calendar and add a calender which has only one period, you can suspend ledger account and financial dimensions as well.

Unfortunately, I didn't find information about removing a legal entity from the view. But you can remove a legal entity.

You may try to use XDS.
But sys admin will still see of course :)
As suggested by Billur, you can use extensible data security (XDS) to hide the non-active legal entities. I wrote a blog with an example how to achieve this.

Note that there are multiple options to set the query for having legal entities visible or not. In my example it was based on the organizations assigned to security roles. You can also think of a new checkbox on the legal entity to indicate if it is non-active or not.
