Hi. I'm new to D365 Finance having spent many years working with AX2009/AX2012. We have a need to create a Sales margin report in D365 and in particular it must include
I've spent too much time looking for an appropriate set of standard data entities with very little success.
Am I correct in assuming that I would need to create a custom data entity(s) to achieve this report? Am I misunderstanding something about D365 and data entities?
Cheers
James
Hi James
Here is a summary: Data Entities on docs In this context you only need to read the Overview and Capabilities sections.
Data Entities are used to present a normalised table structure as a single unit (hence "data entity") and then to expose that encapsulated unit (import/export and integrations).
I assume that with "report in D365" you mean an SSRS Report. In that case Data Entities are not what you are looking for.
I do not have experience in AX2012, but I have heard that building a report in D365 is basically the same as in AX2012.
Hi James,
You are looking for lot of details from standard entity. You would need custom entity for this. Prior to creation try to see if standard entity has the fields /logic that you can leverage. E.g. for magin check sales line/customer invoice entity.
Hi Pete. May thanks. "Reporting D365" ... Given the requirement for data interaction, PowerBI or Excel.
