Creating task forms and assigning them to created lead forms....

Hi,

Please can someone help me?

In Lead forms, I have created my own custom view however I am struggling to get the custom Task form I have created to integrate into the Lead form. Does anyone know how to do this or even know what Im talking about?

Ill be really honest, this is completely alien to me and I feel I have opened up a can of worms buying this license and thinking I can customize it so easily. Any help or support would be massively appreciated.

Regards

Geoff

    Hi Geoff,

Probably are trying to show tasks on main leads form as a subgrid. If so follow these steps:

    1. Open  Leads Form

For this go to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System > Select 'Lead' from Entities > Click Forms > and select Main Form

    8267.2.PNG

    2. In form do the following Steps:

2.1 Select an area in form where you want to add sub-grid

2.2 In top bar click 'INSERT' and then on 'Sub-Grid'

2.3 In newly Opened Window set the properties as described in below image.

    8267.2.PNG

    2.4 Press Set button

    3. Save form and Publish it

Clear browser cache & browser history and linking a new task to a Lead will appear in this grid when you open a Lead.

    Hi Yawer,

Thank you so much for providing help on this matter, I now understand how to do this however, please can you advise me on I would incorporate the Task Form I have created?

As an example, I have created Task Form that has an Option Set included that I would like to add to my Lead Form. Can you advise how I would do this please?

Also on a separate issue, I am struggling to incorporate a "Free Text Field/Box" that I can type note into and upload data to.

    Please help!

    Thanks

    Geoff

You can't show tasks form as it is in Leads form but you can show Task records in sub-grid I guided before. I guess you want to show option set (which you have created in Tasks form) into Leads form.

    Follow these steps:

3.1. Go to Task form again as did previously please refer picture 2 (Set Properties)

3.2. See "Default View" part under  "Data Sopurce" section

Now you will modify "My Tasks" or what ever view is supplying data

As described in 1st reply go to Tasks entity > Views (to do this go to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System > Select 'Tasks' from Entities > Views > and select "My Tasks" or what ever view you are using as a default view.

    6763.3.PNG

What ever columns are added here in view, will appear in sub-grid. Double click on view, in Next window click on "Add Columns" and select your Options set, click Ok

Save the changes in view & "Publish All Customisations". Clear history & browser cache and see results.

In summary you need to modify View which is supplying data for your Sub-grid. If not sure see this article.

First you need to add a field in entity, Select "Single Line of Text" as Data Type and "Text Area"format

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/dynamics/crm-customer-center/create-or-edit-entity-fields.aspx

Then you can add show that field on form

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/add-a-field-to-a-form.aspx

Have more issue I recommend post as a seprate questions.

Probably it is becasue you are adding tasks sub-grid in your created form but when you load Leads form it is not the form which you created. Simple thing to make it working you can do for now is to add task sub-grid in Main form, save publish and see it working.

But if you really want to use your form let me try to help you. Lets take it in steps:

    1. make your form visible when you open a lead.

In CRM there are different types of form. For this example I m using a new Main Form. (not  sure what form you have created but check this out to learn different types of forms and when to use which form, and what form type you have created etc)

    2. I m supposing you have created a main form, you need to activate it and set its order so that it may be working in place of default form. For this click "Activate" and "Form Orders" > Main Form Set. See screen shot.

    3. Save Publish All clear borwser cache and history and test

I hope you are able to see your form after previous reply. Adding a new button is someting a little more technical. Let me suggest using existing buttons for adding a new task but it require you first seeing sub grid on form.

    1. click on + sign/ button on top of your tasks sub grid.

    2. it will open a seaerch field in bottom of tasks grid with another +

    3. clicking that + will let you add a task to this lead. See screen shots below

    Hi Yawer,

I have tried to do as you have outlined however, what I am seeing is a little different.

Here is the list I have:

    5076.Lead-Pic-4.PNG

Then when I select it (second one down in the list) I press activate as you say then Form Order and this is what I see:

    3010.Capture-1.PNG

I am not not getting any other options to set the order as you say, its only giving me the one I have been working on.

Just so you can see, this is my Lead Form:

    7624.Lead-Pic-1.PNG

Notice there is not a + sign above Activity Type, also please not these are not the columns I want to see in here, these are:

    5076.Lead-Pic-4.PNG

Im pretty sure I am selecting the right one too, see below:

    8780.Lead-Pic-3.PNG

And the last point on this too, it wont allow me to stretch this into the next column either:

    7142.Lead-Pic-2.PNG

I do apologise Yawer if I am missing something here, I am struggling with this and its starting to really frustrate me. Would it be possible to provide you my log in details and perhaps you could take a look yourself? I'd be happy do so if this is something you would welcome?

Again, I really appreciate the help and support you have provided so far - you have been incredible!

    Regards

    Geoff
